Checking for early warning signs of climbing finger injuries
I thought I’d do a quick video on how I check on my fingers to see whether I’m risking a finger injury. I’ve been climbing over 3 years now, and I had about 4 finger injuries in my first 18 months climbing. The last 18 months have been a lot better – I’ve got stronger fingers, but I’ve also learnt to be more patient and I have a better feel for when to back off.
There is a balance between pushing it with climbing and training, and going too far and putting yourself out of peak form for 3-6 months.
In this video I discuss this based on a question I answered on reddit about climbing injuries, and some follow up questions that were put to me. I’m no expert, this is just based on my personal experiences.
